Flower Care
Flower care for boxed flower arrangements
Fresh flowers will surely cheer up any recipient’s mood and our boxed flower arrangements make the perfect gift for any occasion. We want you to enjoy your unique boxed flower arrangement as long as possible, so here are some tips and instructions from our florists to care for your Flowers by Phyllis boxed flower arrangement after you receive it through our flower delivery service.
-
Your boxed flower arrangement is inside an oasis, which was soaked in water when making the composition, so there is no need to take the flowers out of the box and place them in a vase. If your boxed flower arrangement has a box lid, it is important to open the box so that the flowers can breathe.
-
It is important to check the oasis daily to make sure it remains moist. If you feel that it has dried, please carefully add water between the flowers directly into the oasis. Be extra careful not to add too much water as this may damage your box.
-
Spray your flowers with clean tap water once a day to give them additional hydration. Flowers can absorb water from places other than the base of its stems. To do this right, use a bottle with a fine mist setting and spray from 6 inches to 1 foot away from the flowers to ensure an even coverage.
-
Flowers are very delicate things and it is important to keep them in a cool room. Avoid direct air-conditioning, direct sunlight, outdoor areas, extreme heat, dust and ripening fruit. All of these conditions may make your boxed flower arrangement wilt faster.
-
During the night, we advise you to keep the box in a cool, dry place. Ideally, you should aim to wrap the box in plastic bag (while leaving the flowers out of the bag) and place it in a refrigerator and take it out again in the morning. This way, your flowers will stay fresh for longer.
-
When a flower begins to wilt, remove the petals or the whole flower from the box. Flowers bloom and wilt at different times. Removing wilted flowers will help to avoid the spread of bacteria to the other flowers.
-
Once your flowers exceed their freshness, you may carefully remove them with the oasis to keep the box as a keepsake or decorative piece after the flowers are gone.
With a little extra care for your beautiful flowers, we trust that you will enjoy your unique boxed flower arrangement as much as we enjoyed creating it for you.
Love,
Flowers by Phyllis
